5 Ways to Stay focused in 2011
Think of someone you admire. Someone you think has it all: family, financial success and fun. Now how do they look? Are they healthy, not bad on the eyes, in fairly good shape? No, this is not part of some recent study by the US Surgeon General. But
it does demonstrate the parallels and consequences that can result from
maintaining a fit body and a healthy financial sheet.
Tip #1 - Set a realistic, measurable goal. Make it one that you are excited about accomplishing. If you want to succeed in overcoming limiting habits, your goal must have passion attached to it! Examples for Business-Career "I am going to get 5 CEUs this quarter or I am going to achieve 30% net profit this year!" Example for Body: "I am going to workout 3 times per week with a trainer." - When your goal is measurable you will know exactly when it is accomplished.
Tip #2 - Write your goal in the present tense. Did you notice the above examples? This will cause you to fully associate with the achievement of your goal. Your unconscious mind is totally deductive, and thus, it accepts anything that your conscious mind gives it without question. Consequently, correct phrasing is imperative. "I am so pumped that I am the top sales person in my company." "I am happy that I am 10 pounds lighter and my cholesterol is 20 points lower."
Tip #3 - Write your goal every single day. Carry it everywhere you go, and read it as often as possible. Remember, you are developing new habits of a highly successful person...this means new ways of thinking and acting. Again, it has taken several years to create your current programming and it will take concentrated effort for it to be replaced.
Tip #4 - Create a time table for your goal. It's hard to achieve a goal that has no time variable on it. So as tip #1 demonstrates, measure the goal by adding a time element. Example for the Body: I am going to workout 3 times per week for 30 minutes with a trainer." Example for Business - "I will attend two networking functions per month and meet two people that I can do business with in 2011." Not only are these goals measurable but they're also easier to achieve and track.
Tip #5 - Take actions and make daily decisions with your goal in mind. In other words, ask yourself, "What decision would I make right now or action would I take now as a ____________________?" See what I mean. If you act, base on your current status, you will continue to create your current results.
If
you experience frustration with these action steps, realize that it is
caused by your old programming trying to push back into old behaviors. The mark of a master is the person who has the ability to give themselves a command and then follow it! Commit to these 4 steps for 30 days. I'm convinced it will make a positive impact on your life!
