What’s the Best Exercise to Lose 10 Pounds?

It’s a new year…a clean slate. A great opportunity to clear your mind and closet of all the junk that may have held you back from getting fit and healthy in 2020. With so much opportunity, the #1 burning question we often receive is, “what’s the best exercise to get fit quick or lose my first 10 pounds (or these days the unwanted COVID-19)?” And how does what we see each day affect what we choose to do in a healthy way? More about the latter in a moment, but first, let’s talk about your best choice for exercise.

In our 23 years as a health and wellness service provider, our team has realized that there is actually one BEST EXERCISE that can undoubtedly keep you healthy and in great shape for the long term. And it’s not what you think. It’s not about going and spending $1,500 on the latest stationary cycle or total conditioning machine. It’s not outfitting a new home gym by having a contractor come in and bulldoze your sitting room or your mother-in-law’s suite. While those things are good, there is something even better. What is it? The exercise of your mind.

There have been countless books written on MINDSET. And true enough, it does seem like the new buzzword of 2020-21. But it’s true even for wellness and fitness. When you clear out your misconceptions, misgivings, and mishaps of what you haven’t achieved and focus on what is possible based on who you are and what you WANT…any exercise is your best exercise. In other words, don’t get caught up in what your best friend is doing or your sister’s new Peloton purchase, or the 10 pounds that Liz just lost over the holidays. Focus on what makes you feel good when you move, and start to set up your life with positive prompts that evoke excitement and energy to keep you in focus.

One final point that is of the utmost importance when it comes to mindset is that it all starts with how you begin. In other words, what’s the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning? When you turn on your device(s) and even when you walk in and outside your home. On my walk this morning, I came across this giant, beautiful mural of one of my favorite fruits…WATERMELON! The first thing that came to my mind was not who painted it or even how it got there. My first thought was WOW…what a gift this is for the person who lives here. Each day, every time they leave or come back home, they have the opportunity to focus their mind and vision on being healthy…what a positive thought. At least that’s what this picture says to me. What does it say to you?
